App development in Manchester

App development for Manchester digital and media companies

For Manchester product teams, agencies and media businesses that need an app shipped without growing the payroll first. One architect, written scope, a fixed price per milestone.

Manchester has a large digital and media sector, with MediaCityUK in neighbouring Salford among its best-known sites. Teams there tend to know exactly what they want built. What they often lack is a free senior pair of hands.

Capacity without a hiring round

A product team with a full backlog and a freeze on headcount has two bad options: delay the app, or pull people off work that earns money. A fixed-price build is a third. The scope is written down, the price is set, and the app is delivered into a repository your own developers can take over.

For product teams and for agencies

Some clients need a whole app, from data model to store release. Others need one layer of it: the iOS and Android clients against an API they already run, or the server side for an app they have designed. Both work, provided the interface between the parts is written down first. Agencies can use the same arrangement for a client project they cannot staff themselves.

Content, accounts and consent

Media and consumer apps collect more than they admit: sign-ins, preferences, listening or reading history, device tokens for notifications. Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 each of those needs a purpose and a retention rule. Both are planned with the data model and the consent screens and documented for your review, so analytics can be switched on without a rewrite.

Price, contract and data

  • Every step has a fixed price, set in writing before work starts; extra scope is added only through a change order you approve in writing.
  • The code sits in your repository from day one; with each paid milestone, the rights to everything delivered up to that point pass to you. Third-party components and pre-existing tools keep their own licences.
  • For rescues and new builds, 90 days of free bug-fixing after launch, on top of the 12-month warranty under the Terms. Ongoing operation starts at $1,400 a month.
  • You contract with DigitalFreedom Global LLC, Wyoming, USA. All prices are net; the tax treatment is clarified before contract and stated in the offer.
  • Our infrastructure is in the United Kingdom and Europe. Where I process personal data on your behalf, we sign a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). The provider overview on digitalfreedom.co.za lists the subprocessors, their locations and the contractual safeguards.

Common questions

Who is the contracting party?

Your contract is with DigitalFreedom Global LLC, a company registered in Wyoming, United States. Contracts and invoices are in US dollars, with scope and price fixed in writing before the build starts.

Can you work alongside our in-house developers?

Yes. A common set-up is that your team owns the product and the roadmap while the architect builds a defined part, such as the mobile apps or the server side, behind a written interface. Your developers can read and review everything as it appears.

Is this a replacement for an agency?

For a defined product, it can be. There is no account manager between you and the person writing the code. If you are an agency yourself, the work can be scoped as a subcontract for a client project, with the same fixed-price terms.

Which privacy rules apply?

UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Media and consumer apps often involve analytics, accounts and notifications, so consent handling and data minimisation are part of the initial design rather than a later patch.

What does it cost?

A First Version (MVP) from $27,800 in two to four weeks. For an app your agency built and left, an App Check at $2,000 comes first. Fixed in writing before the build.
