Remote was the plan from the start, not a fallback. Most agencies went remote because they had to, and kept working as though everyone were still in one room: the daily stand-up, the decisions made verbally, the context that lives in someone's head. That, more than the distance, is what makes distributed projects feel slow.
Written first, spoken second
Scope, budget and risks are locked in writing before anything is built. Progress lands in a log you can read whenever your day starts. Decisions leave a trail, so nobody has to remember what was agreed six weeks ago. Calls happen when a call is genuinely faster than a paragraph, and they are booked by appointment.
Some things are easier to show than to write: a new screen, a walkthrough of a release, the reasoning behind an architecture decision. For those I record a short screen video. You watch it when it suits you and reply in writing, pointing to the moment in the video you mean. Written updates and short videos together are what let asynchronous work run smoothly between clients anywhere in the world.
One person, end to end
Distributed teams multiply handoffs, and every handoff is where context goes missing. Here there are none. The architect who scopes your app is the one who builds the server side, ships the store release and answers the question three months later. Apps built natively for iPhone and Mac or once for both iPhone and Android, and servers behind them that are meant to run for years.
The same deal wherever you are
- First Version (MVP) from $27,800, market-ready app from $83,300
- Fixed price agreed up front, not an hourly rate that grows with the distance
- Data model planned with GDPR in mind, a useful baseline for most other privacy regimes
Where this does not work
If you need someone in the building, someone to sit in your all-hands, or a team you can scale to twenty next quarter, this is honestly the wrong fit. If you need one accountable engineer who ships and then keeps the thing alive, distance is not the variable that decides it.
